Cable Hell Records and studio

Cable Hell

In the almost 6 years Spökraket have been around we have been recording ourselves. Around the time of our first album, the studio/rehearsing space got the unofficial name of Cable Hell kind of as a joke, because of the frustration that sometimes follow with the DIY recording process.
Several bands have used the studio with Jonathan as the engineer and/or producer.
These are mostly Aarhus based bands like Morgan Square, Narcosatanicos, Urr, Moroccan Roll, Shocking White, Eskapaden, Hunger, Tots and of course Spökraket.

The Cable Hell recording gear

Our first album "All Art Is Propaganda" was recorded on a lo-fi hybrid setup using a four track Fostex A4 tape recorder and overdubs done in the digital domain. As for "Darling Adharma" it was all analogue using a Fostex Model 80 eight track and we got a 16-track in the middle of the sessions which was used on some songs. "In A Witch Forest" was tracked on the pleasant sounding workhorse Fostex G16 with the exception of one song, "Tribute To Ride Into The Sun" which was partially recorded on the aging Model 80.  We hardly ever use Dolby Noise Reduction as it kills some treble.
After "In A Witch Forest" was completed we replaced the shitty Fostex 820 mixing desk which had slowed down the mixing process of many projects. In came the way more professional sounding/looking DDA Q 32 track desk which we are currently using (see top picture).
